Tube Mill Entry Level Operator - 1st Shift

TUBE MILL ENTRY LEVEL OPERATOR -  1st Shift

Starting Wage Range = $20.90 up to $23.15

 

Cleveland-Cliffs Tubular Components has an immediate opportunity for a Tube Mill Entry Level Operator  at our Columbus, Indiana Tubular Components location.  This position is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and operating the off loader section of the tube mill on 1st shift.   This role is responsible for ensuring the tubing is off loaded into the appropriate rack or cart per the customer requirements.  Promotional opportunities are available for experienced operators.  This role interacts with the the mill crew, maintenance, and engineering related to the effective operations of the site.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Offload and hand stack steel tubing manually into appropriate carts or racks.
  • Monitor auto off loaders to ensure tubes are off loading correctly into carts and racks.
  • Repacking and banding – repack tubing into  bundles,  pack, and / or band bundles according to customer requirements
  • Visually inspect tubing for quality defects.
  • Ability to use measuring devices to measure tubing.
  • Technical skill set to perform changeovers and set up.
  • Ensure the highest level of safety, quality, and productivity are being met.
  • Follow work instructions to produce tubing per customer specifications.
  • Provide training and support to employees newly assigned to this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Prior automotive manufacturing experienced preferred
  • Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed to support customer requirements
  • Ability to read and comprehend safety and position procedures
  • Team player with the ability to work collaboratively
  • Positive, high energy, and self-motivated
  • Excellent attendance record
  • Excellent safety record
  • Pre-Employment hair drug screen required

Cleveland-Cliffs Tubular Components has an immediate opportunity for a Tube Mill Operator at our Columbus, Indiana Tubular Components location.  The Operator is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and operating  tube mills on 3rd shift.    This role interacts with the the mill crew, maintenance, engineering, and leadership related to the effective operations of the site.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure tube mill is set up to customer specifications
  • Verify correct raw materials are utilized
  • Visually inspect tubing for quality defects and reject non-confirming product
  • Ability to use measuring devices to measure tubing.
  • Enter required measurements into quality measuring system and interpret data
  • Technical skill set to perform changeovers and set up.
  • Ensure the highest level of safety, quality, and productivity are being met.
  • Follow work instructions to produce tubing per customer specifications.
  • Provide training and support to other mill crew personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED

Quality Engineer

QUALITY ENGINEER

Cleveland-Cliffs Tubular Components has an immediate opportunity for a Quality Engineer at our Columbus, Indiana Tubular Components location.  The QE is responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the quality assurance system. Coordinating and investigating problems with the product and processes and recommending and/or implementing corrective actions. Overall, improve customer and vendor satisfaction.  This role interacts with all levels of the organization.


Primary Responsibilities:
•    Lead corrective action by using a variety of analytical and statistical tools.
•    Coordinate customer complaints and drive resolution.
•    Develop, implement, monitor, and control QA system to assure product quality based on customer and/or product specifications
•    Interface with customers and suppliers to resolve quality problems.
•    Develop, motivate, and train qualified personnel to QA standards.
•    Solve internal and external quality problems.
•    Develop Control Plans, FMEA’S, Flow Charts, etc.
•    Provide customer complaint summary and trends to all personnel.
•    Flexibility to support, audit, and travel to both AK Tube facilities. (Walbridge, Ohio/Columbus, Indiana)
•    Improve QA system procedures and instructions.
•    Train personnel in QA procedures, instructions, etc.
•    Monitor cost of quality, reduce wastes and non-value-added activity.
•    Layout and use of measuring tools.
•    Internal Auditing of QMS and support processes.
 

Minimum Qualifications:
•    Bachelor Degree in Engineering and/or equivalent experience (prefer ASQ Quality Auditor and Engineer certification)
•    ISO/IATF QMS experience
•    Layout and GD&T experience
•    8D Corrective Action experience
•    Effective communication (verbal and non-verbal) with customers, suppliers, and employees
•    Analytical problem solver
•    Diplomatic, Well-Organized, with strong ability to Self-Manage
•    PC software, especially word-processing and spreadsheets
•    Use of Customer-Specific Portals, when applicable
•    5 years of QA experience in a manufacturing facility with QS/ISO certification.  
•    Experience with Tier 1 automotive preferred.
•    Team player with the ability to work collaboratively
•    Positive, high energy, and self-motivated
